Belarus: 21.06.2011 EU to discuss simplification of visa regime with Belarus
EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy expressed the support for visa regime simplification dialogue with Belarus.
Catherine Ashton was quoted by ITAR-TASS repeating the support for Belarusian people “in particular, in the form of a dialogue on visa regime simplification”.

Meanwhile, the UE maintains sanctions imposed on Belarus, including a visa ban on Belarusian officials and a vast list of companies forbidden to operate in the EU countries. However, according to the Foreign Minister Siarhej Martynau, Belarus does not seek a visa-free regime with the EU at the moment , focusing rather on small cross-border movement.
