EC proposes to open negotiations with Armenia
The European Commission proposed on September 19 to open negotiations on Visa Facilitation and Readmission Agreements with Armenia.
Visa Facilitation and Readmission Agreements with Armenia will facilitate issuing short-stay visas and speedy readmission of irregular migrants between the EU and Armenia.
The list of visa facilitations proposed for the citizens of Armenia include reducing the number of documents submitted for a visa application, the possibility of issuing multiple-entry visas with a long period of validity and set deadlines for processing visa applications as well as possible exemption from the visa obligation for holders of diplomatic passports.
“Easier access to visas will improve cooperation and exchanges between the EU and Armenia. Visa facilitation and readmission agreements are very tangible results of the Eastern partnership and I know how much this means to the citizens of these countries,” stated Cecilia Malmström, EU Commissioner for Home Affairs.
