Azerbaijan has arranged the negotiations on visa facilitation with EU

Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Mahmud Mammadguliyev announced the date of the first round of negotiations on visa facilitation between Azerbaijan and the European Commission.
On February 7th the meeting is planned to be held in Baku, now Azerbaijan is waiting for the Commission’s final response.
“I hope we will finalize the talks on visa facilitation with Azerbaijan in the short run and after that the citizens of Azerbaijan will be able to travel to Europe more easily” – said Ambassador Roland Kobia, Head of the European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan.
The previous year, on December 20th the EU Ministerial Council issued a mandate for holding negotiations on visa facilitation with Azerbaijan. The project provides for i.a. decreasing the visa fees, reducing the number of documents required and easing visa issue for persons of some categories, not eliminating the regime in its entirety.
