Government to issue free visas for election observers from other countries

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has made a decision on the free issing of visas for official observers from other countries and international organizations for the parliamentary elections in Ukraine in 2012, Ukrainian First Deputy Foreign Minister Ruslan Demchenko has said.

He told Interfax-Ukraine that a respective resolution was approved at a government meeting on April 11.

“It means that we will issue visas for international observers at the zero tariff rate of consular fees. That is, for free,” he said.

Demchenko noted that the registration of international observers for the elections to the Verkhovna Rada would start 90 days before the election and that Ukraine has already sent invitations to all interested international organizations and countries. The next parliamentary elections in Ukraine are to be held October 28, 2012.
