Armenia is ready to the flow of the tourists of Schengen Zone
Entry visa regime suspension for citizens of Schengen countries will stimulate the stream of the new group of tourists in Armenia. The 27 EU Member States, as well as the citizens of four countries Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, which are not members of a structure, but apply the Schengen Acquises can arrive in Armenia without entry visa from January 10 of 2013.
As the Tourism Department of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Mekhak Apresyan informed ”Armenpress” our country is ready to receive new groups of tourists, especially that it will be accessible to enter to Armenia for the lovers of cycle and procession tourism from European countries.
According to observation of the Head of the Department if the main goal of the visit of inbound tourists formerly was to visit to their relatives or acquaintance with cultural values, then now the ecotourism, winter, resort, adventure and leisure tourisms are rapidly developing in Armenia. The tourism season is also distended: it begins and continues until mid-November to mid-March. The trend of foreigners to spend the New Year in Armenian is observed in recent years. Armenia is ready to receive new tourists in the case of increasing tourism flows. The Head of the Tourism Department mentioned: ”There is a shortage of beds, the number of which, however, gradually regulated by the private sector. In this term the Tourism Industry collate the free field to the private sector to engage the business.”
According to the data of the Economies of the Hotel the number of the tourists visiting Armenia from European countries is in average 30 percent in 2010-2011. They are mostly middle and high age group representatives, who prefer to travel by tour packages. Usually the tour package tourists spending rate is higher.
