Moldova: The Association Agreement and the Visa Liberalization Agreement with the EU will have been signed by the end of next year

Speaker Igor Corman is positive about the results of the Eastern Partnership Summit to be held in Vilnius this November. Moldova will initial both the Association and Visa Liberalization Agreements with the European Union at this Summit, he said in a briefing today.

Igor Corman added that Moldova is still seen as a success story in the Eastern Partnership and this opens new opportunities for our country. In his view, these two agreements are very likely to have been signed by the end of next year.

Speaker Corman also said that the Vilnius Summit is going to be a historical event for Moldova.

„In our relationship with the EU, this Summit is just a milestone. Other milestones will follow, but to reach them we have to demonstrate results, focus on the on-going reforms in Moldova, I mean the justice reform, fight against corruption etc. We must send positive signals to EU and we will succeed”, he said.

Speaking about his recent visit to Vilnius, Igor Corman said that Lithuania will continue supporting Moldova in its efforts to achieve the European integration goal.

He communicated that Moldova could join the Trilateral Meeting – Lithuania, Ukraine and Poland, and said that the Inter-parliamentary Forum 8, bringing together five Nordic countries and three Baltic countries, might be held in Chisinau soon.
