European Commission notes Ukraine’s progress towards visa liberalization with EU

Representatives of the European Commission and Ukraine have discussed the country’s progress in implementing the action plan on visa liberalization.This issue was discussed at a meeting on the visa-free dialogue between Ukraine and the EU, which was held in Brussels on Friday.

“The parties noted the intensification of reforms undertaken by Ukraine in order to fulfill the criteria of the first (legislative) phase of the action plan on visa liberalization and discussed the steps that still need to be made to switch to the second phase,” reads the statement.

Ukraine’s Mission to the EU recalled that among further steps on the road to visa liberalization the Ukrainian side should bring anti-corruption legislation and the legal framework in combating discrimination into line with European standards.

The Ukrainian side was represented at a meeting on the visa liberalization dialogue by Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Olefirov and First Deputy Justice Minister Inna Yemelyanova.
