Border of Souls: New Documentary Highlights Romania-Ukraine-Moldova Cross-Border Cooperation Project

Borders exist only in people’s minds. There can be no borders between people.” These are the words of a beneficiary of one of the 140 projects carried out under the Romania-Ukraine-Republic of Moldova Cross-Border Cooperation programme 2007-2013, spoken in a one-hour documentary highlighting projects funded under the programme.

The programme covered 15 million people in three regions, funding 140 projects involving 353 partner organisations, to a total value of €126,718,066.

The one-hour documentary, titled Border of Souls, gives the voice to beneficiaries of this cross-border cooperation, highlighting projects funded under the programme, ranging from ‘Safe cross-border tourism in the mountains of Bukovina’, to a labour mediation project, a music festival for children, and a project strengthening communication between the blind in border regions.

The objective of the Romania-Ukraine-Moldova CBC Programme is to create “bridges” among the three countries involved, in order to help the border areas overcome their similar development challenges, by working together and finding common solutions. The Programme also promotes greater interaction between people and communities living in the border areas.
