Cross-Border Project Reconstructs Stadium in Belarus

A stadium reconstructed as part of the EU-funded Cross-Border Cooperation project “Cooperation-Activity-Future” has opened in Ashmiany, Belarus with an official ceremony on 24 June. The opening took place with various sporting events including a football tournament, track and field events, arm wrestling and a tug-of-war.

In the framework of the project, the stadium, with a football pitch in the middle, was equipped with new infrastructure to organize athletics events, including running (new running track), shot put, long jump, and a new 500-seat stand for spectators.

The project is funded under the Poland-Belarus-Ukraine CBC Programme, which aims to provide support for cross-border development processes through increasing competitiveness of the border area, improving quality of life and people-to-people cooperation.
