Klimkin: Dutch referendum not to stay on way of Ukraine-EU visa-free regime

The outcome of the referendum in the Netherlands on ratification of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement will not interfere with Ukraine-EU visa liberalization process, according to Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin who spoke on Inter TV channel, 112 Ukraine reports.
“There are clear assurances [of European officials] that the visa-free regime is a completely separate path. And if the European Commission gives the go-ahead, while the relevant decision has already been drafted within the European Commission that Ukraine had fulfilled completely all the requirements on its path to a visa-free regime, then we are moving toward a visa-free regime, ” Klimkin said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on April 6, the Netherlands held an advisory referendum on Ukraine-EU Association Agreement.

According to the data of ANP Verkiezingsdienst electoral service published by NOS television broadcaster, 38.1% of votes were cast in support of the Agreement’s ratification, while  61.1% of the Dutch voted against the move.
