Expert Meeting on Resettlement and Other Forms of Admission of Persons in Need of International Protection

The Meeting to be hosted by Sweden on 2-3 June 2016 will gather experts from the EU and EaP countries working in the sphere of international protection. It will provide an opportunity to ignite and further develop the ideas regarding such instruments of international protection and managing the migration crisis as resettlement, other forms of humanitarian admission, relocation.

The agenda will consist of the four sessions:

  • Global overview focusing on the framework and the challenges;
  • Understanding the concepts of resettlement and relocation;
  • Procedural aspects of resettlement, creating national resettlement programs;
  • Eastern Partnership perspective/regional context: panel discussion between the EaP countries’ representatives on prospects of and challenges to effective resettlement in their countries.

This meeting is co-organized by Sweden, Armenia and the European Commission in cooperation with the Swedish Migration Agency and the IOM Mission in Ukraine.
