Belarus: 11.11.2010 Agreement on local border traffic with Poland ratified

The House of Representatives of Belarus has approved the agreement on local border traffic between Belarus and Poland, which now needs only a signature of president Lukashenko.

According to the press, the agreement will enter into force in April 2011. After this date, visa-free travel will be possible for the holders of specific permits issued by consulates of both countries.

Residents of the border area can apply for such a permit, which will cost 20 €. Local border traffic will include permanent residents (for at least 3 years) of the area that extends 30 km from the border – on each side. Belarus has signed similar agreements with Lithuania and Latvia.
