On 10 March Croatian government decided to lift visa regime for Ukrainian citizens from 1 April to 31 October, i.e. for the duration of the tourist season. They hope that introducing such a solution will increase the number of tourist coming from Ukraine to Croatia. The two countries will celebrate this year the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and they both describe their bilateral co-operation as extremely successful. The Chairman of Ukraine’s parliament Volodymyr Lytvyn emphasised that this temporary suspension of the visa regime should be followed by “enhanced co-operation” to ensure that similar events occur more often. According to Croatian statistical office 50 000 tourist from Ukraine visited Croatia in 2010, which indicates a 40% increase in comparison to the previous year.
