13.07.2011: 78.6m EUR for energy and justice reform in Moldova

The European Commission adopted the Annual Action Program for Moldova, which will provide €78.6 million to support development in the energy and justice sector.

The Annual Action Programme 2011 for the Republic of Moldova adopted by the European Commission on July 13 provides €78.6 million to support reforms in the country. The funtind will be allocated to research into renewable energy potential in Moldova and promoting public awareness campaigns on energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Other areas within the AAP include support to the justice sector, support for Transistrian conflict resolution and a Framework Programme aimed at helping Moldova’s preparations for negotiations with the EU on the Association Agreement, Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area and Visa Liberalisation Dialogue.

Štefan Füle, Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, commented: “Today’s decision confirms our full commitment to continue supporting the efforts of the Republic of Moldova to achieve concrete results in its reform process and to help the country move closer to the European Union”.
