The first session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly will be held on September 14-15 in Strasbourg.

According to the head of Azerbaijani delegation to the Euronest, Elkhan Suleymanov, the session will be held on September 14-15 to discuss issues pertaining to the Eastern Partnership Summit, which will take place in Warsaw on September 29-30.

Azerbaijani delegation has already prepared a report “Recommendations for 2011 Eastern Partnership Summit: high expectations for purposeful activity” containing a number of proposals and suggestions and sent it to Euronest committees.

One of the issues to be discussed during the session is review and possible adoption of the Declaration on Belarus, drafted by the co-rapporteurs of the working group on Belarus: Dumitru Dyakov and Jacek Sariusz-Wolski.

Azerbaijan’s proposal to hold Euronest PA session in May 2012 in Baku and later ones in other EaP countries will be discussed as well, since previous voting was inconclusive due to the absence of 2/3 majority. Azerbaijani delegation hopes for the positive outcome of the vote, despite some opposition from Armenia and several MPs from Poland and Romania.
