I, CULTURE Orchestra at “Solidarity of Arts” festival

Young orchestra from the Eastern Partnership countries performed its inaugural concert during Solidarity of Arts Festival.

I, CULTURE Orchestra is an innovative project launched last year at the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, as on of the more ambitious initiatives of the the Polish EU Presidency 2011 Cultural Programme. Orchestra conducted by Paweł Kotla performed on August, 24 in The Polish Baltic Philharmonic in Gdańsk.

Over 100 talented young musicians from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine have an opportunity to play in most prestigious concert halls in Europe. The inauguration concert was preceded by three-week workshops lead by most renowned music teachers, members of such ensembles as London Symphony Orchestra, Opera de Lyon, or Metropolitan Opera.

The orchestra will now go to Cracow, then Sweden – together with Poland Sweden inspired and encouraged the EU to launch the EaP Initiative. The European tour of I, CULTURE Orchestra in autumn include concerts in Berliner Philharmonie, Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles (Bozar), Royal Festival Hall in London and Teatro Real in Madrid.
