Over €1.6 million for security of Lithuanian-Belarusian border

The funding for the Cross-Border Cooperation project for Lithuania and Belarus has been approved.

It provides over 1.6 million EUR to enhance the security in the border-control points on the border between Lithuania and Belarus with the EU funding over 90% of the operation’s budget. Money will be allocated for installing the equipment necessary to process electronic travel documents and enable personal identification based on biometric data as well as for strengthening the entry-exit control system.

Cross Border Cooperation Programme (CBC), a key priority of the ENPI, seeks to reinforce cooperation between EU Member States and Partner Countries along the external EU borders.
