Euro East Culture: First Aid to Heritage in Times of Crisis

Culture cannot wait! TheInternational Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property has announced a new course on “First Aid to Cultural Heritage in Times of Crisis”. The initiative – funded by the EU within the Eastern Partnership Culture Programme – aims at equipping participants with necessary skills and knowledge to provide timely response in emergency situations.

The training identifies areas of joint programming between culture and humanitarian sectors, to ensure that affected communities can effectively participate in their own recovery. Developing cost-effective strategies for risk reduction and cultural heritage disaster preparedness forms a core component of the training.

The course is intended for professionals working in the fields of cultural heritage and humanitarian assistance within a variety of sectors: libraries, museums, archives, sites; departments of antiquities or archaeology; religious and community centres, etc. The Course will be held between 30 March and 24 April 2015 for four weeks. The €12 million Eastern Partnership Culture Programme aims at assisting the partner countries in their cultural policy reform at government level, as well as capacity building and improving professionalism of cultural operators in the region. It seeks to strengthen regional cultural links and dialogue within the Eastern Partnership region, and between the EU and ENP Eastern countries’ cultural networks and actors.
