EU Commissioner Hahn in First Visit to Georgia

Johannes Hahn, EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, pays his first visit to Georgia on 15 and 16 January. His main aim is to support implementation of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement and to discuss the Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga, as well as the forthcoming review of the European Neighbourhood Policy.

The Commissioner will discuss with the government how the upgraded political dialogue and new institutional framework between the EU and Georgia can be followed up most effectively. He will also sign a Financing Agreement for a new programme to help Georgia implement the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area and promote private sector development.

The visit includes meetings with Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and members of the government, the Speaker of Parliament, opposition representatives and civil society.
