Groysman Expects “Clear Decision” on the EU Visa-Free Travels by the End of the Year

Chairman of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Groysman believes that Ukraine will see a “clear decision” already this year on the visa-free regime with the European Union.

“I think you’ll agree that dissociating Ukraine as a European state by way of visas from our partners in the European Union is an echo of the Soviet past. And that is why we sincerely believe that this year we will get a very clear decision on the introduction of such a visa-free regime. This will be a step towards bringing peoples together,” he said at a meeting of the Youth of the European People’s Party (YEPP) on the second anniversary of the Revolution of Dignity in Kyiv on Friday.

Groysman said that the parliament had recently adopted all necessary bills needed for the introduction of visa-free travels.

Kyiv is hosting the YEPP’s Council of Presidents on Friday. Over 70 young politicians from 30 European countries have been invited. A panel discussion, involving Ukrainian Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko and Deputy Economic Development and Trade Minister Maxym Nefyodov, is scheduled as part of the event.

YEPP, The Youth of the European People’s Party is the largest Political Youth Organization in Europe with more than 1.6 million people from 39 countries.
