Lithuania’s Foreign Minister: “Georgia is mature and ready for visa-free travel to EU”

Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius believes Georgia is mature enough and ready for embracing visa-free travel to the European Union (EU).

The Lithuanian official met Georgia’s Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze in Vilnius and said he hoped Georgia would gain a visa-free regime this summer.

Linkevicius also reaffirmed his support for Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration aspirations and expressed hope the upcoming NATO Summit in Warsaw would adequately reflect Georgia’s prospects for integration into the alliance.

For his part Janelidze thanked Linkevicius for Lithuania’s unequivocal support for Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

At the meeting the ministers underlined the recent increasing dynamics of bilateral cooperation between the two nations in trade, education and cultural spheres and noted trade turnover between Georgia and Lithuania was increasing year-on-year.
